In just a couple of days, Winnipeg Harvest is getting set for their Tools for School: School Supply Drive.

Every year, parents rush out to find the best school supplies for their kids while others are wondering how they'll even afford a notebook.

That's where Winnipeg Harvest comes in.

Winnipeg Harvest, along with Staples Business Depot and the Winnipeg Goldeyes have partnered together to help bring school supplies to kids and families who may not be able to afford to do so.

The drive was started by Senator Ron Duhamel almost 20 years ago after he saw some kids didn't have what they needed for school.

While there is an welfare allowance for school supplies, it's a drop in the bucket for a single school year.

It also doesn't bring up funding for extra-curricular activities, or computer and access to educational resources on the internet.

Winnipeg Harvest says the Tools for School campaign helps make sure all children will receive what supplies they need for school success.

To help out, you can donate school supplies at any Staples Business Depot location, or any Goldeyes home game this summer from July 19 to September 9.
