  • A fundraising banquet in support of Gideons International is being held at 6:30 pm at Altona EMMC. Tickets are by donation – call Ray or Anne at 204-324-6026.
  • Altona Youth for Christ Dessert Fundraiser is planned for 7:00 pm at Seeds Church in Altona. This is a fundraiser for The Station Youth Drop-in Centre, which relies solely on donations. Jim Harms will be the guest speaker. Admission is free.

Wednesday, April 5

  • Altona Curling Club is holding a fish fry from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Enjoy all you can eat pickerel, beans, fries, cole slaw, rolls and coffee for $15.
  • Southern Health Santè-Sud is holding the 19th annual Healthy Community Conference at Winkler Days Inn Conference Centre. Learn tips and tools on building capacity to navigate life’s stages, transitions and curve balls. Register with Angela at 204-325-9957 or email sccfv1@genesishouse.ca.

Thursday, April 6

  • The Altona and District Chamber of Commerce awards banquet will be held at Rhineland Pioneer Centre. Guest speaker is Obby Khan, Winnipeg Blue Bomber alumni and founder of Shawarma Khan and Green Carrot Juice. Tickets available at the Chamber office or website.
  • One Hope Canada presents “The Taylors” in concert at 7:00 pm at Morden E-M-M-C. Admission is free.
  • A program titled “Get Better Together” begins at Morden Senior Centre. Sessions take place from 6:30 to 9:00 pm and run until May 11. Call 204-331-8858 for more information or to register.

Friday, April 7

  • The annual Ecole West Park School Quiz Night fundraiser will take place at Rhineland Pioneer Centre in Altona. This year's pirate theme is "The Wildcats of the Caribbean". Food will be served starting at 6:00 pm with the games following at 7:00. The registration fee is $120 per team of 8. Contact the school to sign up. Money raised goes toward school projects such as an MTYP performance at the school, field trips, and yearbook costs.
  • An all you can eat fish fry is happening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Miami Community Centre.
  • An Easter banquet will be held at Morden Activity Centre, beginning at 5:30 pm. Entertainment by Lindsay Rae. Get your tickets at the Centre.

Saturday, April 8

  • Tim Neufeld & the Glory Boys and their 2017 HOOTENANNY tour are coming to Altona's EMMC. It’s a bluegrass-inspired night of music and joy... beards, banjos, and blessings for the whole family. Tickets are $10 available at universe.com or at Altona EMMC.
  • The Morden Chapter of Boundary Trails Health Auxiliary invites you to their spring luncheon and bake sale at Morden Activity Centre. Doors open at 11:00 am and lunch will be served from 11:30 to 1:30. Proceeds go to Boundary Trails Health Centre Equipment Fund.

Sunday, April 9

  • An evening to celebrate the 2017 Manitoba U18 women’s junior curling champions is planned from 5:30 to 10:00 pm at the Altona Curling Club. Meet skip Mackenzie Zacharias, third Morgan Reimer, second Emily Zacharias, lead Paige Beaudry and coach Sheldon Zacharias. Tickets are $10 and available from any team member, at the door or by calling 204-324-7488.
  • A Party for Chrissy Peters is planned from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Morden Access Event Centre Community Hall. Come and celebrate with Chrissy on her recent wins in Austria. She won a gold medal in the 100M and a bronze medal in the 200M. Chrissy has been involved with the Special Olympics program for 10 years, and this was her second time competing in the World Games.
  • A concert titled “Harmony of Hope” in support of Eden Health Care Services will take place at 7:00 at Winkler Emmanuel Mennonite Church. Two local choirs will be performing, and admission is free.
