Another day of high temperatures and humidity is in store for the city of Winnipeg and southeastern Manitoba.

The hot and muggy weather has prompted Environment Canada to issue a special weather statement for the third day in a row:

A very warm and humid air mass continues to give above seasonal temperatures to southern Manitoba.

Although temperatures and humidex values are expected to remain below heat warning criteria for southern Manitoba, it is important to remember that heat affects everyone. The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.

With the 50th Canada Summer Games ongoing, it is important to keep hydrated and go into the shade or a cool place when able to do so.

A cold front crossing the province on Monday afternoon will bring more thunderstorms to the region. In its wake, cooler temperatures will move into the Red River Valley for the remainder of the week.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ec.storm.ec@canada.ca or tweet reports using #MBStorm.
