Tommy Woodard and Eddie James have been best friends since high school. They fell in love with acting in their school's theatre productions and had a knack for making people laugh. When Tommy invited Eddie to church, everything changed.

"Our youth pastor told us to do skits for the youth group. Even back then and up to today, it's us opening our Bible and our crazy brains going, that's how I would visualize that like, that's how I would see that happening," said Tommy Woodard.

No longer was it just about making people laugh, their skits now had a bigger purpose. Since then, they’ve been writing and performing hilarious skits live and on screen. They have also launched the second season of their podcast, "Laugh More".

With their trademark clean, family-friendly humour serving as an integral element to each episode, “Laugh More” is, ultimately, a vehicle to teach God’s Word. Woodard’s and James’ 30-year friendship shines through discussions of scripture, the sharing of personal stories, skits and other fun elements, all designed to encourage practical application of God’s Word.

“Our comedy serves a greater purpose,” says Woodard, who also serves as a teaching pastor at Newchurch in Oklahoma City. “We’re pastors more than pranksters. We want to offer our listeners plenty of laughs, a look at God's Word, and encouragement for their lives.”

With more than 100 podcast episodes under their belts, “The Skit Guys” have been working together in faith-based comedy and teaching since they were teenagers. Taking a multi-media approach to teaching the Word of God, the duo produces digital videos and scripts, and they’re excited about the release of their first full-length, family-friendly film, Family Camp, in theatres starting May 13, 2022.

"We believe humour breaks down walls for truth to enter, and we agree with what the Bible says in Proverbs 17:22, that laughter is good medicine," shares James, who is also the creative pastor at First Baptist Wylie in Texas."

Today on Connections, Tommy and Eddie share how they met and why they love combining comedy and faith. They'll also share a bit about their first full-length, family-friendly film, Family Camp.
