With spring knocking at the door and mild temperatures here to stay, The Forks has officially closed The Winnipeg 150 Winter Park.

The park, which opened on Dec. 22, 2023, offered a variety of skating options, including the Canopy Rink, CN Stage Rink and over a kilometre of on-land trails, and was part of an exciting partnership celebrating Winnipeg’s 150th year as a city.

“As Winnipeg’s backyard, we found it fitting to partner with Winnipeg 150 this year,” said Sara Stasiuk, Chief Executive Officer of The Forks North Portage. “We see these types of free and public amenities as central to what we do with and for our community. And it is truly through our community’s support of The Forks year-round that we can make and maintain things like the Winter Park.”

The Nestaweya River Trail, which was also part of the Winnipeg 150 Winter Park, closed on Feb. 17. The mild weather led to the trail's shortest season ever, only being open for two quick stints, from Jan. 25–30 and Feb.13–17, a total of just nine full days.

With the River Trail and Winter Park closed, skating at The Forks is done until next winter.
