A 17-year-old will be in court Monday after the death of a Grand Rapids teen.

On Thursday night at around 8 p.m., RCMP were called to a Grand Rapids residence. Arriving at the home they found an unresponsive 16-year-old boy, who was then transported to the Nursing Station. Once arriving, he was declared dead. RCMP immediately began investigating the death as a homicide.

Searching the community, RCMP Major Crime Services, RCMP Emergency Response Team, RCMP Police Dog Services, and RCMP Forensic Identification Section all joined the investigation.

On Monday morning, RCMP Manitoba announced they had a teen in custody. They say on Sunday, a 17-year-old male from Grand Rapids was charged with Second Degree Murder. He is set to appear in court on Monday at The Pas Provincial Court.
