Winnipeg police have arrested a 65-year-old man in connection to a bank robbery late last week.

The incident happened Friday, just before 1:30 p.m., in a financial institution in the 1500 block of Regent Avenue West.

Police say a man allegedly entered the bank and presented a note to an employee, indicating that he was armed, and demanded funds. He collected $10,000 before fleeing the bank in an unknown direction. Police say no weapon was seen during the robbery.

The Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation and identified a male suspect.

On Sunday, a search warrant was executed in a hotel in the 300 block of Waterfront Drive. The suspect was arrested without incident, and officers recovered some of the stolen funds after a search of his room.

He remains in custody.
