School students in Winnipeg, Altona, and across the country and world, gathered at their schools' flagpoles this morning to pray.

See You at the Pole is an initiative that started in the United States of America in 1990, "as a grass roots movement with ten students praying at their school. Twenty years later, millions pray on their campuses on the fourth Wednesday in September," according to syatp.com

It was expected that 1 million students in the USA alone would meet at 7:00 a.m. local time to pray.

In Canada, the numbers are smaller, but it's a day that has been picking up steam in recent years, which is encouraging to organizers.

This year's theme is "fix our eyes" which is taken from Hebrews 12:2, which speaks of Christians "fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."

Students pray for requests submitted by other students, as well as concerns for their communities, country, and around the world.
