A girl is safe after being approached by a stranger as she was walking home from school Wednesday.

At approximately 3:40 p.m., a young teenager was walking home at the intersection of Concordia Avenue and Molson Street from school. While she was walking, a man in a grey truck in used condition drove by and waved to her.

The truck then made a u-turn and drove up to the girl. Police say the suspect then asked her if she wanted a ride home. When the girl declined, he got out of the car, grabbing her wrist.

Other students were nearby and began verbally intervening. Their efforts were successful as the man returned to his truck and drove away. The teen was unharmed.

Police are searching for the suspect whom they say is white, tall and with a thin build, and between the ages for 30 and 40. He has brown hair and a brown mustache. The suspect has a chipped front tooth. At the time he was wearing a grey t-shirt, jeans, and a baseball hat.

Those with information are asked to call the Child Abuse Unit at 204-986-3296 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
