250 students ageing from Grade 1 to Grade 12 will be competing in Winnipeg this weekend to see whose robots are the toughest and fastest.

The Manitoba Robot Games is a series of 13 different competitions, such as a "sumo" event in which robots try to push one another out of a circle, tractor pull, or a "super scramble" event which is an uneven terrain race.

Herb Reynolds is one of this year's organizers and he says that it's always exciting to see the joy the kids get from the event. "They also learn so much doing the work to compete."

The competition takes place this Saturday, beginning at 9:00 a.m., at the Audrey Jones Field House at Tech-Voc High School.

Reynolds says it's a great family event to take in, and it's a great opportunity to spark an interest in science in children.
