While many kids are spending their spring breaks on vacation or in front of the television, a group of students are spending it serving others.

SOAR Heartland, a ministry of MB Mission, kicked off on Thursday at North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church. High school students from schools and churches in Winnipeg, throughout Manitoba, and even from Saskachewan, come together for a 10-day discipleship training and mission program.

Throughout the 10 days, the groups will worship, serve, eat, learn and dorm together. Every team gets partnered with a ministry inside Winnipeg and spends five days serving there, whether through VBS programs or program support.

The program gives high school kids a chance to connect with ministries, most within the North End of the city. It also leaves plenty of time to connect with God, learn more about yourself, and learn more about those around you.

Saturday will be spent learning, listening, praying and worshiping during sessions throughout the day, while Sunday gives the teams a chance to connect with each other, before their ministry assignments will start on Monday.
