The storm system moving through the province lived up to its promised potential for most of Manitoba on Monday morning.

Winnipeg and southeast Manitoba escaped the worst of the storm, but the rest of the province experienced a good old fashioned prairie blizzard Monday.

A good portion of highways in the west and central parts of the province were closed Monday evening, and remain closed early Tuesday evening. For those highways that do remain open in the area, RCMP is urging drivers to use caution and drive safely.
