At the end of the latest extension, Manitoba will have been under a state of emergency for 322 days.

As of Monday at 4 p.m., Manitoba is under another extension of the state of emergency. It will last for 30 days, ending on February 5.

“Our government’s number one priority is the health and safety of all Manitobans,” Infrastructure Minister Ron Schuler, the minister responsible for the Manitoba Emergency Measures Organization (EMO), says. “As we start the new year, we will continue to adapt to the needs of our province in response to the pandemic. Our emergency management team has been a lead player from the onset and will continue supporting measures to flatten the curve and reduce the spread of COVID-19.”

This allows the province to react to changing pandemic-related needs under section 10(1) and 10(2) of the Emergency Measures Act such as developing the Pandemic Response System and advising on and enforcing co-ordination of public health orders.

The current Public Health Orders are in effect until Friday.

“We need all Manitobans to continue to do their part in reducing the spread of COVID-19. Let’s work together to make 2021 safe for our communities and our health-care system."

An earlier statement from the province said the extension began on Friday. This has since been corrected.
