The City of Winnipeg has announced that spray pads will remain open until September 11 to beat the heat that is expected throughout next week.

Originally, spray pads were to close for the season on September 5, however, with the forecast showing temperatures in the high twenties the City decided to postpone the closure.

All spray pads will remain open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. until September 11. Except for Michaël Jean Park (Norquay CC) Spray Pad, which has closed for the season.

Despite the extension of the spray pads, the outdoor pools and wading pools will still close by September 5. 

The following outdoor pools are expected to be open until the end of the day on Friday, September 2:

  • Fort Garry Lions
  • Happyland
  • Windsor Park
  • Provencher

The following outdoor pools are planned to be open until the end of the day on Monday, September 5:

  • Freight House
  • Kildonan Park
  • St. Vital
  • Transcona Aquatic Park
  • Westdale

Most wading pools have already closed, however, the following are expected to remain open until the end of the day on September 5:

  • Central Park
  • Dakota Park
  • McKittrick Park
  • St. John's Park
