Police say that an argument between father and son escalated on the weekend and ended with the father in hospital and the son arrested.

Const. Jay Murray from the Winnipeg Police Service says officers were called Saturday at approximately 1:40 a.m. to the 200 block of Charles Street for the report of a stabbing.

Upon arrival, officers located a 53-year-old male victim suffering from stab wound injuries. He was subsequently transported to hospital where he remains in stable but critical condition.

The victim’s son was placed under arrest at the residence and was taken into custody. He was charged with Assault With a Weapon and remains in custody.

Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation and believe that the two were together inside their residence at which time an argument occurred that escalated to a physical altercation and the father was stabbed.
