Soda Stream, along with Health Canada, and the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (US CPSC) is recalling their 1-litre carbonating bottles.

The bottles could rupture while a consumer is in the process of carbonating water with a SodaStream carbonation system, and this could result in personal injury.

As of February 7, 2017, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in the United States or Canada.

This recall involves the 1-litre bottles that are blue-tinted, marked "Dishwasher Safe", have a blue plastic bottom and blue cap, and are marked with an expiration date of "04/2020". The UPC numbers are as follows:

  • 1 Pack- UPC: 8 1136900294 5; and
  • 3-Pack- UPC: 8 1136900965 4.

The products in question were sold between March 2016 and November 2016, with approximately 7554 bottles being sold in Canada.
