The city of Winnipeg’s snow plowing crews will be out in full force over the next few days after heavy snowfall blanketed the city Sunday and Monday.

Acting Manager of Streets Maintenance, Cheryl Anderson says truck plows are currently working on main routes, bus routes and collectors, and that work will continue through all of Tuesday, March 6.

Plowing of sidewalks and active transportation paths is also underway, and the city says back lane plowing will begin Tuesday morning.

A Declared Snow Route Parking Ban will be in effect until 7 a.m. on Wednesday, March 7. On that day, the city will then move into residential plowing operations, with a Residential Parking Ban going into effect at 7 p.m. Wednesday night.

Anderson is reminding people to be aware and safe when driving near snow clearing equipment. She’s also reminding people to know which plowing zone they are in so they can avoid a ticket and tow and keep their cars off the street to ensure a smooth snow plowing operation.

People can find out their zone by downloading the Know Your Zone app, using the Address Lookup Tool on the city’s website or contacting 311.
