Close to 100 people were treated to a special haircut over the weekend.

It was all part of an event called Snippets of Love.

Snippets of Love was started by Brenda Lee Reimer after her friend was diagnosed with cancer. She was quick to offer support by cutting and selling her own hair, giving the proceeds to her friend.

Now, twice a year she sets up shop at Lighthouse Mission with a number of volunteer hairstylists and offers free haircuts to those who cannot afford it.

She was hoping to have eight to ten hairstylists helping out at this weekends event, but by Sunday, she had 11 people on board.

"All I could think was, where am I going to put you all?" said Reimer. "We managed to do it. We were bumping into each other, but we were all in there. It was great!"

In total, 96 people received a haircut. Those in attendance also had the opportunity to pick through some clothing and household items that were donated.

"The smiles were just so amazing. They walk out and they have been loved on. You know, they were treated like a human being for a day and that's what they are," said Reimer.

One man broke down in tears with Reimer. He shared with her that while living on the streets to protect himself, he had the devil tattooed on him. He cried because he didn't want that on him anymore because he now has Jesus in his life and he is ashamed of it, but cannot afford to have it removed.

Remier says every time she thinks of this man, she can't help herself but cry. She would like to see the man find a tattoo artist that would be able to cover it with a cross.

Snippets of Love is now in its third year and Reimer has no plans on stopping. With more and more people hoping on board, she says they may add extra events in the near future.

"There is just so much in there to be heard and to be listened to," said Reimer. "If people just take the time, these people just need somebody to talk to."
