The Chosen just released the first episode of season two of the epic TV series all about Jesus' life, and fans are loving it.

The premiere episode was live-streamed on April 4, 2021, Easter Sunday.

"Whoa. Not much more to say than that. Around a million people have watched the Season Premiere of our second season already, and the Livestream last night was crazy. The comments are still pouring in, and I've never seen the word 'Wow' more times in my life," says Dallas Jenkins, the Director of The Chosen.

The 2020 TV series available to view on its own app is the highest crowd-funded TV series or film project of all time, according to Wikipedia.

The first season has eight roughly one-hour episodes. Most of the episodes revolve around one person and their encounter with Jesus, including Mary Magdalene, Nicodemus, Matthew the tax collector, and Simon Peter.

Well-known CCM artists have collaborated in the series with songs and/or cameos including one from Mandisa and Phil Wickham.

Jonathan Roumie plays the role of Jesus, and it started as a small role for a video of Jesus on the cross for the director's church service six years ago. The role was done so well that the director of The Chosen, Jenkins, knew he wanted to keep Roumie in the role of Jesus for this TV series.

"What I shoot for is just try to get the closest possible feeling that Jesus might have had. Even then, trying to understand what that would be is difficult. The best that I can do is try to just experience every emotion I think is needed for a scene, on a much more intense level. If it's mercy and compassion, I try to have exponential amounts of mercy and compassion," says Roumie in an interview with the director.
