The heat and humidity is turning into thunderstorms across southern Manitoba, and warnings are beginning to appear with the potential for more.

ECCC is tracking a "cluster of severe thunderstorms capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain."

The system is currently near the international border in North Dakota, and tracking northeast, according to ECCC. They say that heavy downpours could cause flash floods in some areas.

Kevin McAulay from ECCC says that there already was quite a bit of lightning overnight. That system just missed Winnipeg, he says.

"But this evening it looks like things could definitely spark up again for Winnipeg," he says.

The areas below in red are currently under a severe thunderstorm warning. Yellow areas indicate severe thunderstorm watches for that area.
