Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) have reopened a busy section of Main Street after a serious incident this morning.

Update (3:55 p.m.): The WPS said the woman struck during this morning's incident has succumbed to her injuries.


Update (2:15 p.m.): The WPS have reopened southbound Main between Church and St. John's. The police closed the intersection of Main and Anderson due to a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. The 80-year-old pedestrian was transported to the hospital. No word on her condition at this time.

Update (9:10 a.m.): WPS says that southbound Main from Church to St. John's will be closed until further notice. They are asking the public to find alternate routes.


Police say they are investigating an incident which has forced them to completely block off southbound Main Street at Anderson. 

There is no word yet on the cause of the closure, or how long it may last.
