Three arrests have been made in connection with the purse-snatching incident that occurred Saturday, say Winnipeg Police.

Three male individuals, ages 16, 17, and 18, remain in police custody, having been charged with an array of offences regarding a purse snatching incident which occurred this weekend.

"This was a violent weekend," commented Constable Rob Carver, Public Information Officer for the WPS.

Charges against the individuals include robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, assault with a weapon, and criminal use of a credit card, among others. All three males have been charged with similar offences.

Earlier: According to the Winnipeg Police Service (WPS), a 66-year-old woman was pepper-sprayed and struck with a weapon by three teens over the weekend in River Heights. 

Police say the incident happened early Saturday evening in the area of Brock Street and Grosvenor Avenue.

A 66-year-old female victim had been walking in the area when she was confronted and robbed of her purse by three male youths.

The victim was treated for her injuries at the scene by members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service.

The Winnipeg Police Service is asking for help in identifying the suspects.

  • The first youth suspect is described as a 14 or 15-year-old male, Caucasian in appearance and wearing a light orange jacket.
  • The second youth suspect is described as a 14 or 15-year-old male, Indigenous in appearance, approximately 5’6” in height with an average build, dark hair and was wearing a light-coloured hoodie.
  • The third youth suspect is described as a 14 or 15-year-old male, Indigenous in appearance and wearing a red backpack.
