Police say a 24-year-old man was arrested while at a correntional centre in relation to a spring carjacking that resulted in a senior being ran over with his own vehicle.

The Winnipeg Police Service says their Forensic Identification Section used DNA to identify a second suspect in an April carjacking that sent a senior to the hospital after being run over with his own vehicle and left him lying while seriously hurt in a back lane. 

A 24-year-old suspect was visited on Monday by detectives with the Major Crimes Unit, placing him under arrest at Headingley Correctional Centre.

He is being charged with Robbery and Aggravated Assault.
