A round of phishing scams has Bell MTS warning customers to be careful.

Several people on social media have reported receiving emails from somebody purporting to be Bell MTS. The email states that email addresses will be shut down due to the company's recent structure and name change.

Customers are then directed to follow a link so that they can update their personal information, and get a new Bell MTS address.

Jeremy Sawatzky, media relations & communications specialist with Bell MTS, says, "Bell MTS will never ask you to share personal information or identification like a password, banking or other similar personal information via email."

He also warns that you should follow some basic steps when receiving these types of emails:

  • Do not respond to the email or share any personal information with the sender.
  • Do not click on any links contained in the email.
  • Delete the message from your Inbox.
