The Chief of Police in Sainte-Anne says a doctor is being charged with sexual assault but there could be more victims.

In a statement sent by Sainte-Anne Police, a 61-year-old doctor, Dr. Arcel Bissonnette is facing six counts of sexual assault. Police believe he assaulted six patients from 2004 to 2017 during visits to both the Sainte-Anne Hospital and at a Sainte Anne medical Centre.

Authorities say the charges come after a lengthy investigation.

"Sainte-Anne Police want to ensure that there are no other victims and are asking anyone with information to come forward," Marc Robichaud, Sainte-Anne Police's Chief says.

Sainte-Anne Police can be contacted by calling 204-422-8209.
