A Winnipeg high school senior is hoping that what started as a small bake sale four years ago might end up raising more than $20,000.00 for a downtown mission.

Reese Precourt was introduced to Lighthouse Mission when she was in grade eight. She says her dad was volunteering his services to the downtown mission, and when she needed to pick a benefactor for a community service project in school he made the suggestion. "I thought that was a great idea, and it began to grow from there."

Precourt met with the staff at Lighthouse Mission and said she instantly felt the literal and figurative warmth that Lighthouse Mission provided to Winnipeg's less fortunate.

With her love for baking, she said it instantly made sense that she would sell baking for the project and donate the proceeds to Lighthouse.

In that first year alone Reese's Pieces 1.0 raised $5,000.00

Now heading into its fourth year, Precourt has raised $13,000.00 over all the years. She's hoping this year to raise $7,000.00 to put the project over a $20,000.00 lifetime total. Precourt is quick to point out that it wasn't just all her work.

"There's so many people across the city that have contributed to this. I want to thank everybody in the city that has contributed to this. You're the ones that have helped it grow this much."
