Update: RCMP Manitoba says the bodies of two missing males were found yesterday.

RCMP officers are investigating after two males they were searching for are now being considered deceased.

Early Wednesday morning, Portage la Prairie RCMP officers received a report of suspicious activity. At 2:45 a.m. they received a call from a concerned homeowner in Delta. The homeowner said two males were attempting to enter a residence on Cherry Road.

The homeowner said the males were looking for a residence of someone they knew.

When officers arrived, the pair had already departed but officers believed they were still in the area.

While searching, officers heard calls of distress coming from a marsh area in the community. RCMP Police Dog Services were called to assist in locating the males.

Tracking the males into an ice-covered marsh area, officers saw that something had broken through the ice into the water.

The pair, aged 18 from Brandon and 17 from Portage, did not resurface. RCMP are considering them deceased.

RCMP are continuing to investigate.
