RCMP officer involved in collision on Highway 1

An RCMP officer and another person are recovering after being involved in a collision on Highway 1.

RCMP Manitoba says that the collision occurred Friday morning just before noon. The officer from the Falcon Lake RCMP detachment was travelling eastbound on Highway 1 in a marked police vehicle when he collided with a vehicle that was initially travelling southbound on Provincial Road 302, and attempting to make a left hand turn onto Highway 1.

The 40-year-old male officer as well as the 21-year-old female from Ste. Genevieve were both transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Steinbach RCMP along with a Forensic Collision Reconstructionist continues to investigate.

Provincial Road 302 runs north and south through Richer Manitoba, 40 kilometres southeast of Winnipeg.
