A second RCMP officer in the span of one week is being investigated after a report of unlawful speeding.
The Independent Investigation Unit (IIU) says that they are investigating allegations of an on-duty RCMP officer excessively speeding
IIU says the RCMP was told an officer in a police cruiser, on January 8, was seen on Highway 83 at noon speeding and driving recklessly. The unit says the allegation is they were speeding without lawful justification to speed.
RCMP received the report on Thursday and notified the IIU. The incident is now being investigated.
This is the second report in a week reported to RCMP of an officer speeding. On January 11, an officer was reported for speeding on Highway 59. IIU is investigating this report as well.
