A report of theft at a worksite is leading RCMP officers to search for a suspect.

In Virden on Tuesday, RCMP officers received a report of a theft at a worksite in the RM of Pipestone, an area roughly 25 minutes south of Virden. When arriving at the storage trailer where the theft occurred, RCMP says the trailer was missing hand tools, power tools, barbeque, clothing, electronics and other items.

While investigating, officers were led to Government Road in Melita. While at the property, officers discovered a John Deere riding mower that was stolen a few weeks earlier in the area, as well as some of the stolen items from the trailer. RCMP says they recovered the stolen items at the site.

Police are charging a 34-year-old man, Steven Stewart Lundle from Melita, with four counts of Possession of Stolen Property. RCMP is now issuing a warrant for Lundle's arrest.

Virden RCMP is asking for assistance as they continue to investigate. They say those with information that can help officers can call them at 204-748-2135, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477, or give a secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com.
