An investigation is ongoing after human remains were discovered on the banks of the Winnipeg River earlier this week.

The Manitoba RCMP says that on February 3, 2021, at approximately 4:35 pm, Powerview RCMP responded to a report of found human remains along the shore of the Winnipeg River, off Highway 11, on Sagkeeng First Nation.

RCMP and First Nation Safety Officers contained the scene, and a Forensic Anthropologist along with the RCMP Forensic Identification Services will be attending.

Major Crime Services and Forensic Identification Services are assisting with the investigation.

RCMP say they will provide an update once more information is available.
