One man is dead after the vehicle he was driving collided with a semi on Highway 1 Thursday morning.

On November 6, 2019, at approximately 9:45 am, Headingley RCMP responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 1, in the RM of Cartier.

The Manitoba RCMP says police believe a semi-trailer travelling west on Highway 1 was stopped and waiting to turn north onto Cabot Road when it was rear-ended by a van.

The driver and lone occupant of the van, a 55-year-old male from Matlock, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the semi-trailer, a 21-year-old male, from the RM of Springfield, was not injured.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the collision.

Headingley RCMP along with a Forensic Collision Reconstructionist continue to investigate.
