After receiving over 250 tips from the public regarding the homicide of a 27-year-old father, two Winnipeggers are in custody.

Over one month ago, human remains were found in Portage la Prairie. On June 24, at approximately 9:30 pm, RCMP found the remains, discovering it was a homicide.

On July 17, authorities discovered it was the body of 27-year-old Gerhard Reimer-Wiebe, formally of Steinbach. Investigators believe he was living in Winnipeg at the time of his death.

Today, RCMP are announcing the arrest of two individuals they believe are involved in the homicide of Reimer-Wiebe.

On Wednesday, July 29, a 29-year-old Winnipegger, Kyle Evan Sinkovits, was taken into custody.

RCMP are charging him with:

  • First Degree Murder
  • Forcible Confinement
  • Indignity to a Dead Human Body

Sinkovits is appearing in Winnipeg Provincial Court Friday, July 30.

On July 30, Thursday, police took 25-year-old Jonathan Bradley Narvey into custody.

Narvey is being charged with:

  • First Degree Murder
  • Forcible Confinement
  • Indignity to a Dead Human Body

He is set to appear in Winnipeg Provincial Court on August 4.

RCMP Manitoba says that the investigation is still ongoing. Currenty investigators are sorting through evidence they collected at the site of an Alfred-Avenue fire.

Officials say they will release more details in the upcoming weeks.

Reimer-Wiebe was a graduate of Adult and Teen Challenge. He was the father of a daughter and son, and had a wife in Stienbach.

"Gerhard knew Jesus as his Lord and Savior; therefore, we continue to Trust in The Lord Jesus Christ for His Saving Grace," his family says in his obituary.

Reimer-Wiebe also enjoyed singing and playing the guitar.
