At the time of a serious crash, RCMP believed the death of a man was suspicious and now, they are charging a suspect with murder.

On September 24 at 2:35 p.m. Dauphine RCMP officers responded to a crash at Provincial Road 489, near Provincial Road 271.

When arriving, police found a deceased 35-year-old male from Pine Creek First Nation at the scene and a 39-year-old woman with serious injuries.

At the time, police said the death was suspicious and told the public that there was no risk to their safety as they conducted a manhunt.

After investigating RCMP now say the suspicious death was the result of foul play. RCMP are now charging a 51-year-old man, Francis Mousseau from  Ebb and Flow First Nation. The suspect is being charged with 2nd Degree Murder.

Police say Manitoba First Nations Police Service had the suspect in their custody for outstanding warrants for Flight from Police Officer and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle before he was charged with homicide in Sandy Bay on Sunday.

The 51-year-old is currently in RCMP custody.
