Parts of southern Manitoba will receive some much-needed moisture over the next few days.

Much of the Red River Valley, including the City of Winnipeg, will see rain begin on Friday morning. There is also a possibility of thunderstorms Friday during the day and overnight.

Winnipeg is expected to receive between 10 and 15 mm of rain throughout the day on Friday. Another 20 to 30 mm of rain will likely fall overnight.

Windspeeds are also expected to pick up overnight Friday with gusts up to 40 km/h, and then increasing on Saturday with wind from the northwest at 50 km/h and gusting to 80 km/h at times before lowering in the afternoon to 30 km/h with gusts up to 50 km/h.

Rain is expected to fall for much of Saturday, before clearing in the early afternoon. The rain returns on Sunday with showers throughout the day and evening.

By Saturday evening many parts of south-central and south-eastern Manitoba could see 60-100 mm of rain.

Monday may provide a short break from moisture before it returns Monday evening and throughout Tuesday.

Temperatures will also be much cooler than we've experienced lately with daytime highs in the low 20s.
