After a street race was caught was on camera, one car hit the ditch, destroying the vehicle in the process.
On Highway #2, RCMP says two drivers were racing at 10 a.m. on Monday.
Camera footage shows two vehicles, a blue car and a while car, zooming down the road. A third, red car is seen driving on the highway as the speeders zip past. to avoid the red car, the while car entered the westbound land, and the blue chose the shoulder.
The blue car then lost control one kilometre away, hitting the ditch and rolling several times. The driver, a 21-year-old, was ejected from the vehicle. They were taken to the hospital in critical condition.
"We’re encountering more and more reckless drivers who are endangering the lives of every single person on our roads," RCMP Manitoba tweets. "Speeding and extremely dangerous driving behaviours are directly leading to serious injuries & deaths across MB. This has to stop."
During the past week, RCMP have shared five instances of excessive speeding on Manitoba roads to Twitter.
"Our roads are not a racetrack," the service says.
