One Manitoban remains in Ontario ICU care following an initiative to provide care to dozens of COVID-19 patients while Manitoba's hospitals maxed out capacity.

As vaccination rates continue to rise COVID-19 case rates lower in Manitoba.

The five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 2.9 per cent across the province and 2.7 per cent in Winnipeg, a first for 2021.

Friday's 39 new cases include:

  • 15 new cases in the Winnipeg health region
  • 10 new cases in the Interlake-Eastern health region
  • nine new cases in the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region
  • three new cases in the Prairie Mountain Health region
  • two new cases in the Northern health region

After a data correction, there is a total number of 57,065 confirmed COVDI cases in Manitoba. Of these cases, 54,943 people have recovered and 958 have active cases. There were no new deaths, leaving the total at 1,164.

 

Hospitalizations

There are 119 Manitobans in Manitoban hospitals. One person is receiving intensive care in Ontario as part of a previous initiative responding to Manitoba's overfilled hospitals.

There are 32 active and 82 no-longer infectious cases. In Manitoban ICUs there are 26 people, nine of which are active cases.
