The province of Manitoba releases a new website allowing the public to track the government's progress.

The goal of the website is to help citizens track the province's progress. Finance Minister Scott Fielding says "This system will show our successes and help identify where we have more work to do, so we can use our resources wisely to deliver efficient and effective public services to benefit Manitobans.”

Manitobans can visit mbmeasuringprogress.ca to discover how the province is stacking up against the government's own goals. The new website uses score-cards to make understanding the data easily accessible.

“Balanced scorecards will help keep public service work on track and focused on outcomes, guide discussions, and decision-making, and allow us to analyze data and learn from the results," Fielding says.

The score-card style website is the first of its kind in the country. The province gives four main categories for their evaluations: Quality of Life, Value for Money, Working Smarter, and Public Service. Each category has its own subcategory and scorecard. Evaluations are based on previously-set goals in an effort to keep the province on track.

“We are committed to an accountable and transparent government, and we want taxpayers to hold us to account on our goals and align priorities to what matters to Manitobans,” Fielding says.
