Dr. Dennis Hiebert, a Sociology Professor at Providence College, recently published his second book, titled Rationality, Humility, & Spirituality in Christian Life.

The book is made up of three separate yet interconnected essays that Hiebert had previously written, and then expanded.

“I first published an academic journal article on the issue of rationality. Then I did a second one on intellectual humility. I then realized the connection between the critique of rationality and the call for intellectual humility. Then I realized it would lead logically to consider spirituality.” Hiebert says.

The first essay is Hiebert critiquing rationality.

“One of the standard phrases is that rationality is a good servant but a bad master. You cannot reason yourself to God. You can use reason to get closer, and that’s why reason is a good servant.”

The second essay focuses on Christians knowing their limits intellectuality as finite beings.
