Two Christian schools are headed to the MCAC volleyball championships, and there is a chance that both of the women and men's teams will meet in the final.

Providence College and Canadian Mennonite University are two of four teams that will be competing to win it all.

For the men, CMU is ranked #1 in the MCAC conference, while Providence is ranked #2 in the volleyball standings. However, it is the reverse for the women, as Providence's women are ranked #1, while CMU's women are ranked #2.

The two schools have developed a friendly rivalry with one another over the years.

Fourth-year CMU student-athlete Jason Friesen says that throughout his time playing volleyball at the school, he has found it easier to get motivated to play against Providence. "That's partly because we are the only two Christian schools in the conference, so I think that adds some fire to the rivalry." he said.

"I think it would be great for both of our schools (to make the finals)," said Scott Masterson, the head coach for the Providence men's volleyball team. "We always enjoy that competition against each other."

The tournament will be held at Saint-Boniface University, and the Providence women's team plays against Red River College at 12:00 pm, while the men play against Saint-Boniface at 4:00 pm. The CMU women plays against Saint-Boniface at 2:00 pm, while the men play against Red River College at 6:00 pm.

The finals take place on Sunday; 1:00 pm for the women, and 3:00 pm for the men.
