The wife of Mac Powell, lead singer of Christian rock band Third Day sits up for the first time while in hospital.

Aimee Powell suffered a brain aneurysm and was admitted to hospital on November 30, 2019.  He posted on social media earlier this week that the family has been encouraged and uplifted by the prayers received from the Christian community.

The singer now has a positive update on his wife. "Your prayers and well wishes are being felt!" says Powell. According to a post on Instagram, she is able to eat small portions of breakfast and lunch and her sister came to wash her hair on December 3.

Powell, says that his wife is also taking small steps towards a chair. "The pain had subsided a bit but it's up and down," says Powell.

The family is grateful for all the help they have received and ask that people continue to pray.

"Keep praying, we're still not out of the woods. But it feels like we're taking a step towards the exit," Powell says.

Update on Aimee: Your prayers and well wishes are being felt! Positive progress today. The morning started out better than yesterday. The pain had subsided a bit but it’s up and down. She was able to eat a few bites of banana for breakfast and soup that @gegehunt brought her for lunch. Her sister @wendecuts helped wash her hair and she was even able to stand up and walk a few steps to sit in the chair. We are thankful for friends that have helped take the little ones to and from school and for meals and provisions that people have brought. Keep praying- we’re still not out of the woods. But it feels like we’re taking a step towards the exit. #pray4aimee
