Winnipeggers are being called to pray for their city during a time of fear and uncertainty.

Within newly approved gathering formats (or even alone), Winnipeggers are being called to raise their voices to the Lord in support of their city.

“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray," the Pastors & Leaders Prayer Network says.

The group is reminding believers across the city through a call to action.

"You have no doubt been calling out to the Lord for His intervention in these uncertain days. We would like to propose that we pray together with a coordinated response as the Body of Christ in Winnipeg," the network says.

Follow these steps to pray for Winnipeg today:

  1. We take a 5-10 minute slot in our services to stop and pray, using the same template for prayer so there is unity in our asking. If it is possible, stop to pray at 10:30 am; it would great but not necessary.
  2. Use the Lord’s Prayer format (example below), asking people to pray into these areas in their homes or leading them in prayer if you are gathered together or online. Use as much or as little as you feel will work for your congregation.

Here's an example prayer for believers to use in raising Winnipeg up to Christ.

“Father in Heaven, hallowed be Your name” - Let’s pray this week that the Lord will glorify His name as Jehovah Rapha, the Lord who heals us, through this crisis - however you have faith to pray into that.

“Your kingdom come, Your will be done in Winnipeg and Manitoba as it in Heaven” - Ask for the grace of God to be released on our leaders and decision-makers

“Give us this day our daily bread” - Let's pray that the Lord would provide for all our needs and those in our families and in this city and province who are struggling financially and making ends meet right now.

“And forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us” - Let’s pray that the Lord would forgive us and our land of the pride that says we can do life without Him. Ask Him to forgive us and help us to call out to Him and turn towards Him in new and unprecedented ways.

“Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil” - Pray that the Father would protect us from all that the enemy wants to do in these times. Ask the Lord if there are any attitudes that would give the enemy a foothold in our lives and ask Him to forgive us for those.

Closing - “Our eyes are on You Lord - have mercy on us and heal our land.”
