A young Manitoba couple is praying for a miracle for one of their twin boys after already losing the other boy earlier this month.

Jaydan and Sonja Guenther of Steinbach, Man., found out they were expecting identical twin boys with TTTS (twin to twin transfusion syndrome).

The condition required urgent fetal surgery, in Toronto in April. While there Sonja went into early labour three days after the surgery and delivered two baby boys, Lucas and Levi, at 23.5 weeks gestation. The boys each weighed just over 1 lbs.

On May 9 Lucas died after developing a brain bleed in late April. Levi continues to "fight" and had been "beating the odds" according to a GoFundMe set up for the family. However, on Monday at around 2:00 p.m, the parents received news from doctors that he has since developed a lung infection and may not make it.

"Levi's lung infection got a lot worse and the doctor's not sure if he'll pull through," a story posted to Sonja's social media says on Monday, May 25. "The next 48 hours are crucial for him. Please pray for our boy."

The worship pastor at the family's church, Emmanuel Evangelical Free Church in Steinbach, is hoping the church of Manitoba can hold the family up in prayer. "They have been stranded alone in Toronto for the last five weeks," Mike Burnard says.

Burnard says that the family is going through a difficult situation, being only 18-years-old and having already lost one son, and are facing the possibility of losing the other.
