A 19-year-old is in stable condition after almost losing his life in a serious incident Wednesday night.

Police were called to the St. John’s neighbourhood at 6:30 p.m. after a man had been stabbed. When they arrived, they found the man seriously injured.

The Winnipeg Police Service says officers began first aid, applying a life-saving tourniquet. The man was then sent to the hospital in critical condition and is now in stable condition.

"It is believed that this incident may have occurred in the area of Burrows Avenue and Aikens Street," they say in a statement.

Major Crimes is now investigating. No one has been arrested.
