Manitoba RCMP say they are at a residence in Neepawa, as police continue to look for a fourth suspect in the shooting of an officer.

They’re telling people to avoid the area, and remain vigilant. The suspect is considered armed and dangerous. Suspicious activity is to be reported to police.

A 42-year-old Corporal was shot around 9:30 last night when responding to a break and enter outside Onanole. He sustained serious injuries and is in a Winnipeg hospital in stable condition.

Three adult male suspects were arrested earlier this morning; one suspect remains at-large.

“There (have) been two separate arrests. One suspect was taken into custody at one location and two suspects were taken into custody at a different location not long after that,” said superintendent Scott McMurchy, acting criminal operations officer this morning at a press conference at Manitoba RCMP headquarters in Winnipeg.

Police have said the suspects split up when they fled, with some on foot and some possibly in a black GMC Sierra extended cab with Manitoba licence plate GBX 476. The truck has not yet been located, and anyone with information is asked to call 911 or their local police station immediately.

“The RCMP is truly a large family and what has unfolded over the last few hours truly affects every officer and employee from coast to coast. I know it touches many Canadians as well,” assistant commissioner Scott Kolody, commanding officer for Manitoba RCMP, said this morning. He said many people from across Manitoba and Canada have reached out to offer support.

McMurchy said this morning police believe they know who the fourth suspect is, and they’re working on providing a description to the public.
