A Winnipeg-area thrift store going through donations this weekend found an unexpected drop-off.

Police believe an urn was accidentally dropped off at the thrift store and are hoping to get it into the right hands.

"It is believed that the urn may have been inadvertently dropped off or brought to the business by someone other than the owner," the Winnipeg Police Service says in a statement.

They now have the urn in their possession, hopeful they can reunite it with the owner.

The sealed urn was brought to a thrift store, and the store gave the urn to the police.

Those with information on who this belongs to are being asked to call the Evidence Control Unit at 204-986-6280.
