Officers made a grim discover Wednesday morning after responding to a call.

Called to the area of Stella Avenue and McGregor Street, Winnipeg Police Service officers began investigating a report of possible human remains.

At 7:15 a.m., officers arrived, confirming they were the remains of a person.

The Winnipeg Police Service is unable to give more information at this time and has not identified the person. Police initially said they were looking into suspicious circumstances and asked the public to clear the area.

A post-mortem examination will occur.

One week ago, the body of a 28-year-old woman, Jana Noella Williams, was found in the area of Main Street and Alfred Avenue.

"At this time, investigators are not linking the two homicides," Constable Robb Carver says.
