The Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) believes that four fires started on August 15, 2021, were arson, and are looking for a male suspect.

On August 15, 2021, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Winnipeg Fire Paramedic personnel and Winnipeg Police General Patrol officers responded to a working fire at a building at 157 Scott Street. The building contained a convenience store on the lower level and a residence on the second floor.

Four fires were set, police believe deliberately, that evening, all in the same geographic area, and believe the same suspect to be responsible:
- 157 Scott St. (363 Wardlaw Avenue, contiguous to 157 Scott)
- 151 Scott St. (debris fire was started but burned out)
- 137 Scott St. (Church. Unsuccessful attempt)
- 369 Stradbrook Ave. (Video available. The suspect attempted to start the fire but was not successful).

A female in her sixties was rescued from the second floor and taken to hospital in critical condition, however, she succumbed to injuries related to the fire. The victim has now been identified as Jung SHIN, 60 years.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 30 years in age, approx. 5’10” in height, athletic build, short light hair or possibly shaved head. He was wearing a blue Adidas baseball hat, black t-shirt, black shorts, black footwear with white soles, and a black COVID mask.
