The Winnipeg Police Service is asking for help identifying a suspect after an incident yesterday afternoon involving a weapon. 

On December 17, 2020, a female who works in the sex trade industry was assaulted by an unidentified suspect male, according to a release by WPS.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 30-35 years old, 5’7” in height, with a heavy build, and wearing a camouflage-print face mask.
 
The suspect and the victim made arrangements to meet at a hotel on Pembina Highway.

Early on during their meeting, the male attempted to identify himself as a police officer. When asked to see his badge, the suspect became confrontational and assaulted the female.
 
The victim screamed for help, and the suspect fled. A bystander assisted and called 9-1-1. Thankfully, the victim did not require medical attention for her injuries.
 
Detectives in the Counter Exploitation Unit are investigating this incident and another similar incident that came to light during this investigation.
