The Winnipeg Police Service says a standoff led to the arrest of numerous people and seizure of a large amount of ammunition.

On Saturday at 12:18 a.m., Winnipeg Police officers with the Central District Community Support unit observed two men in the St. Matthews Avenue and Toronto Street area. Police say one of the men being observed had a firearm.

Noticing the officers, the two men fled.

Now chasing the suspects, the officers and suspects stopped in the 300 block of Toronto Street where one man was taken into custody just outside of a residence. The second suspect fled inside.

Police believe the residence is known to the two suspects.

A second standoff went underway at this time.

Two of the home's occupants then exited the home with the suspect still inside.

Almost four hours since the start of the incident, at 4:04 a.m., the second suspect was taken into custody.

Continuing the investigation, Major Crimes searched the house. inside they found a loaded sawed-off .22 calibre rifle, a large amount of .22 calibre ammunition and a ballistic vest.

Four people are now facing charges, the two original suspects and the house's occupants.

Halen James McLeod, a 28-year-old male of Winnipeg, is being charged with several things related to the Saturday incident:

- Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regs (x4)
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized (x4)
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition (x3)
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (x3)
- Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order (X5)

Police say McLeod also is being charged with previous incidents in Winnipeg and Stonewall including:

- Assault
- Assault with a Weapon
- Possession of a Weapon (x4)
- Pointing a Firearm (x3)
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized (x3)
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (x4)
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle (x2)
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Armed Robbery using a Firearm
- Discharge a Restricted Firearm or a Prohibited Firearm with Intent
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 (x3)
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
- Break & Enter with Intent
- Dangerous Driving Causing Bodily Harm
- Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Fail to Stop When in Pursuit
- Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order (x16)

David Nelson Friesen, a 36-year-old man, is being charged with:

- Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regs (x4)
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized (x4)
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition (x3)
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (x2)

At the time of his arrest, he was also processed on an outstanding warrant for the suspension of his parole/statutory release.

Aaron Wilson Boutilier, a 22-year-old man, is being charged with:

- Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regs (x4)
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized (x4)
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition (x3)
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (x2)
- Possession of an Identity Document (x2)

Angelica Corrine Nikole McKay, a 20-year-old woman, is being charged with:

- Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regs (x4)
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized (x4)
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition (x3)
- Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order (x9)
- Armed Robbery using a Firearm (x2)
- Pointing a Firearm (x2)
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 (x2)

She was also charged with offences for other recent matters in the Winnipeg area:

- Theft Under $5,000
- Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order (x2)

Police say all four suspects were detained.
